Since its debut in 2020, the original APEX Sabre blade has earned a reputation for unmatched reliability, consistency, and longevity. But at Leon Paul, we believe there’s always room to innovate and improve. That’s why we revisited the design of this iconic blade, pushing the boundaries to create the next generation: the APEXv2.

Based on extensive feedback from elite fencers and rigorous computer modelling, the APEXv2 incorporates targeted refinements to deliver even better performance while retaining the trusted durability and stiffness of the original.

Enhanced Balance: We’ve shifted the blade’s balance point over 15mm closer to the hand, creating a more agile, responsive feel that doesn’t compromise control or power.

Reinforced at the Forte: A subtle increase in blade height near the guard adds crucial mass where it matters most, enhancing stability and parry reliability.

Refined Midsection: Increased height and a deeper V shape provide additional stiffness while maintaining the consistent feel fencers expect.

Lighter, Faster Tip: The final 380mm of the blade has been slimmed down, dropping weight in this section from 38 grams to just 29 grams for lightning-quick reactions.

Together, these precise adjustments deliver a blade that’s stiffer through the first two-thirds and dramatically more agile at the tip, empowering fencers with sharper control, faster actions, and reliable parries.

I was particularly impressed by how noticeably lighter your new generation blades are compared to the previous models, without compromising their durability. I believe these features will positively impact my performance in training and competitions.
